How does one minute of exercise affect your pulse rate?

For Instructors: You need the following to take part in this activity:

  1. A pass code.

  2. A timing device.

  3. A short piece of aerobic music. Here are three music pieces: 
    (1m 20sec)   (1m 20sec)  (1m 07sec)

The Problem

Exercise is good for your heart and health. How much exercise do you do regularly?

A moderate level of exercise for 30 minutes per day can produce a variety of health benefits. Do you have a strong heart? (http://www.cdc.gov/nccdphp/dnpa/physical/recommendations/index.htm)

How does one minute of exercise affect your pulse rate? Lets collect your data to find out.       

Objectives

1. To learn the concepts of two independent sample comparisons.

2. To learn the concepts of pre/post dependent sample comparisons.

3  To learn the descriptive techniques (graphical and numerical) for comparing two independent samples.

4. To learn the descriptive techniques (graphical and numerical) for comparing two dependent samples (pre vs. post).
