Guideline
for Student Participants
|
1. |
Always follow your
instructor's instructions
-
In your class, you may
participate in the real-time online activity, or you may use the data
collected by other classes. Therefore, you must follow
the instructions given by your instructor.
|
|
2.
|
Read the instructions of each activity.
|
|
3. |
How to conduct the
Real-Time Online Activity.
-
An Activity Code is
required for each activity. If your class participates in the real-time online
activity, your instructor will give you an Activity Code for each
activity.
-
Only one data entry is
allowed for each student. Please check that your data is correct before submitting
the data. The number of surveys allowed for you class
is
the same as your class size. If a student enters the
data twice, then someone
will not be able to enter the data.
|
|
4. |
How to download data.
• Data can be selected in many ways. Your
instructor will either ask you to
select data based on his/her
instructions or ask you to access the data
that your instructor
had downloaded in advance. Therefore, you must
follow your instructor's instruction.
|
|
5. |
How to analyze data.
• Again, you must follow your instructor's instruction.
You may be asked to use the
software available in
your lab, or to use the online analysis tool, namely
StatCrunch
at http://www.statcrunch.com.
• To use the online software
Stat Crunch:
(1) go to the
StatCrunch site
(2) click on "Fire it Up" to sign up for
your free account
(3) follow the instruction given by your
instructor to lead you to use the online
analysis tool.
|
|
6. |
How do I know if I
understand the project.
• At the end of each activity, there is an online
assessment exercise. You can work
on these
problems after the completion of the activity.
• There is a set of suggested questions/projects at the end of
each activity as well.
Your instructor may
assign some or all of them as homework or project activities.
